If you’re in a relationship, congrats and kudos to you because no union is easy! And if there are kids in the equation, then double kudos, as a matter of fact, triple kudos to you.

If you’ve been with your partner for a while, you know how routine everything can become. It may seem like there is no room to discuss anything other than; the kid’s school activities, hiring a tutor for extra math help, or why on earth your kid has a weird obsession with slime?

The point is, it’s time to spice it up and talk about something other than your children! So here are five things to discuss with your partner to help keep the spark alive.

1.) Express Your Love

Most people classify intimacy as a way to express love. Don’t you remember the first kiss you had with your partner? Or how about those butterflies and goosebumps you had every time you saw your better half? Rekindling those simple and luminous moments is key to maintaining the youth of your relationship. Oh yeah, and don’t forget dates! Wining and dining, your lover adds a little T.L.C for your B.A.E. Leave your little ones with a Care Professional and try a new restaurant or even a new activity to have an unregulated conversation. Tell your partner how much they mean to you in subtle ways as well, such as leaving notes around the house (in places the kids can’t reach).

2.) Relationship Goals

Even though you and your boo might be #relationshipgoals on Instagram, discussing realistic relationship goals with your partner is a great way to remind your loved one about what we at MyWoosah like to call the 3 P’s: Purpose, Planning, and most importantly, Positivity. The Purpose category focuses on the “Why.” Think about what motivates you and your partner and where you would like to see your relationship go. Planning is the next step, and this fosters the “How.” No purpose is efficient without a plan, so creating some sort of blueprint with your spouse about how you can accomplish your goals is the right step when building your legacy. Last, we have the most vital stage, which is Positivity. Purpose and Planning may waver; however, you must ensure your positive outlook does not. This keeps tranquility within your union even if things don’t go as planned. So, whether it’s buying a house, expanding your family, or even starting a new career, following the 3 Ps will ensure all your t’s and i’s are crossed and dotted within your relationship.

3.) Improvement

Being with the same person for so long will showcase strengths and weaknesses in a relationship. While no relationship is perfect, enlightening your partner on what should be improved breaks bad habits. While giving your partner an assessment, inform your loved one about what they have refined. Validation is just as crucial as rectification. Always remember to celebrate the improvements along the way.

4.) Appreciation

Everyone wants to be appreciated! It’s a beautiful thing when someone you love has front-row seats to witness your growth as a person. It’s even more pleasurable to acknowledge that growth. Those proud moments should be celebrated and communicated! Remind your partner about how pleasing it is to call them your spouse. Or how heartwarming it is to see their progress. Or maybe even how gratifying it was to eat that sandwich they made you for lunch. Whatever it is, make sure you say thank you and show your appreciation.

5.) Why Him/ Her/ Them

If you can’t remember why you fell in love with your partner, it might be best to talk about steps 1-4. But in all seriousness, reminding your partner of why you fell in love in the first place is the one thing that will nurture your relationship through all the ups and downs.

Talk about these topics, and your love will last forever <3
